Thanks for visiting our site!
Our objective is to provide a forum for those of us that like cycling or are considering taking it up. Not at a competitive level but for fun, commuting or exercise ...
Leisure Cycling Ireland: Essentially we are all cyclists! We all learned at some point between learning to walk and getting your first job. Some of us have let the skill become redundant but it is never to late to take it up again, it's like riding a bike! Some of us commute to work, some take it a bit further and do the odd 20k or even 50k. Some love the atmosphere of a sportive or charity race and some use the sport as a way to stay fit. Cycling has become very common in Ireland recently, due to many factors, but not least of all the bike to work scheme. This is a very progressive scheme launched by our previous government and allows you to buy a bike and the bits and get tax back. But leaving that aside, cycling to work will save you money on spiraling petrol costs, car tax and insurance and so on. Some say it's too dangerous but it doesn't have to be, take a look at our Safety page. Unfortunately though if you decide to become a leisure cyclist and do some longer spins than work and back there is very little information out there to help you get started. We want to provide those of you toying with the idea, looking to advance, wanting to lose weight and get fit or those that have yet to get back on a bike since childhood, the information to get you going. Please browse through our website and if you need to ask questions or get any sort of help please click the Facebook link. Also, keep an eye on our events page there will be some good information there on events you can get involved in.
